Numbers don’t lie

According to 2013 Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board data, only about 2% of public Texas colleges’ and universities’ is comprised of undocumented students who pay in-state tuition. Many think that is a nominal amount, not worthy of repealing the Texas DREAM Act that has allowed undocumented students to pay in-state tuition rates for the past 14 years. However, HB 1403/SB 1528 is in danger of being revoked by GOP leaders. SB 1819, a bill that if passed, will eliminate in-state tuition for thousands of Texas undocumented students. Read the Texas Tribune article and explore their interactive component to find the number and percentage of undocumented students enrolled.
